Columbus Short Arrested by Bounty Hunters at His Album Release Party, Looks Distraught

Someone call Olivia Pope! Troubled actor Columbus Short was detained by bounty hunters on Tuesday, Aug. 18, while preparing to perform at his own record launch celebration

Although TMZ initially said the arrest was due to a failure to appear in court for a domestic violence case, a rep for the Scandal alum told Us, “Columbus Short was arrested last evening, August 18, 2015 by bounty hunters at Universal Studios City Walk in Los Angeles.  His arrest was NOT due to an outstanding warrant as was erroneously reported.  It appears that this is a citizens arrest as a result of an issue between Mr. Short and his bail bondsman. The reported bail amount of $500,000 is also inaccurate.  No additional information is available at this time.”
Short, 32, was photographed being put into a car by several men wearing bulletproof vests that read “Agent” on them. The actor looked confused and upset by the sudden arrest.

It’s been a tough couple of years for Short, who exited Shonda Rhimes’ hit ABC drama in 2014 at the end of Season 3. This exit came after Short was arrested in February 2014 on charges of misdemeanor spousal battery. His wife, Tanee McCall-Short, then filed for divorce. Then in March was arrested again on a battery charge for fighting in a restaurant.

“I'll be candid: I was struggling with drugs," Short told Access Hollywood Live in December 2014. "I had a lot on my plate, and you know, I was using unhealthy ways to kind of self-medicate and deal with a lot of heavy duty stuff in my life… I was doing cocaine and drinking a lot, and trying to balance a 16-hour work schedule a day, and a family, and I just lost myself back then."
